ONE of Blackburn's hardest-working police constables has been appointed as town-centre beat bobby.

PC Graham Davies arrested 120 people last year and has been in the force for 23 years, the majority of which have been in the town. Sgt Phil Davies said PC Davies was known for being one of the hardest working officers.

He added: "This is a great step forward for town-centre policing, allowing one of Blackburn's most experienced officers to dedicate his time to making the town a safer place to visit during the day and make life for criminals as hard as possible."

As Christmas approaches, PC Davies will be responsible for targeting prolific shoplifters.

He is also in charge of the Blackburn with Darwen Security link that connects 80 businesses with local police.
