PADIHAM came from behind to beat Chadderton 2-1 at the Arbories to move within touching distance of the leading teams after five wins from their last six league games.

A strong wind gave Chadderton an early advantage and after 19 minutes they took the lead when Paul Gurr unfortunately turned the ball into his own net to put the visitors 1-0 ahead.

On 40 minutes however Padiham drew level after some good approach play by Harrison and Fullard released Ian Whittaker and the midfielder finished clinically to make it 1-1 at half time.

In the second half Padiham opened well. Gill shot wide, Howes had a shot saved and Fullard's left wing cross was tipped over for a corner by Ford.

But Howes hit the winner on the hour and Padiham came close to increasing the lead as both John Harrison and James Gill hit the visitors' woodwork before the final whistle.
