AFTER two recent victories the Rams were confident they could at least come home with a point, but Congleton took the game by the scruff of the neck early on and ran out comfortable winners in the end.

It could have been so different. The Rams' Glyn Barker denied what looked like a certain penalty with just three minutes on the clock, Adrian Reilly pulling him back by the shirt as he weaved his way into the box.

After that Congleton got to grips with the game and opened the scoring on 29 minutes, a cross from full back Scott Williams into the box was headed past Mark Molyneux by the unmarked Danny Worthington.

They increased their lead three minutes later, another cross from the left, this time from Brian Hatton was met by the on-rushing Stuart Tulloch.

The Rams then went up the other end and unselfish play from Jordan Rispin set up Mark Fitton, but keeper Matthew Conkie was quick off his line to snuff out the danger.

Molyneux could do nothing to stop Congleton from grabbing their third goal on the hour through Scully and Tulloch scored again five minutes from time.

The next game at Ramsbottom is tomorrow night (7.45pm) against UniBond Premier outfit Barrow in the Lancashire FA Marsden Trophy.
