GRAHAM Branch has set Burnley a six-point target from their next two games to get the season back on track.
The Clarets skipper shares manager Stan Ternent's frustration at not turning possession into maximum points in recent weeks.
And Branch is urging his team mates to transform their fortunes over the next 10 days with a couple of confidence-boosting wins against struggling Derby and Rotherham.
The Clarets visit Pride Park on Saturday - incredibly their sixth away trip in nine league games - before a welcome home clash with the Millers on Saturday week.
Branch insisted: "We are slowly getting sucked in near the bottom, but without being disrespectful to Derby, who are struggling, this is a game we should be going into full of confidence and looking to win.
"Then it's Rotherham at home, so we should be looking to get back on the straight and narrow and climbing that league again."
Branch, who is still nursing an ankle injury sustained in the 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United last weekend, added: "We're just missing that bit of luck at the moment and it's all very frustrating.
"If you look at where Sheffield are and where we are, the gap is ridiculous because we comfortably held our own for most of the game. It was just another mistake that cost us and if we can just eliminate those, we are a match for anyone in this league.
"I know if we keep playing the way we are and keep the lads fit, we will be up there at the end of the season.
"There's still a long way to go and we just have to keep plugging away."
Meanwhile, the Clarets injury situation is easily slightly. Highly-experienced defender David May is well on the road to recovery after suffering a hamstring injury at Watford in late September.
The former Manchester United ace suffered a setback three weeks later, but after stepping up his training he could even come into Stan Ternent's thoughts for the trip to Derby should Branch fail to recover.
However the Clarets boss, who may give a few of his first team squad a run out in today's reserve team game at Sheffield United, is also still hoping to add to his squad in the near future.
He said: "I'm looking all the time, but all clubs are in the same boat with the likes of injuries and looking over their shoulders, so we'll see.
"We have a reserve match today and I might play one or two lads to give them a run out and keep them ticking over.
"Sometimes you want the games to come along quickly, but as it stands at the minute it's maybe not such a bad thing."
