DARWEN fell at the first hurdle in the Lancashire FA Marsden Trophy after letting a three-goal lead slip against Squires Gate at the Anchor Ground.
Steve Wilkes' side were coasting at 3-0 with just over 20 minutes to play, yet panic set in once Lee Webb conceded possession in the middle of the park, allowing Matt Derby to pull a goal back for the visitors.
Neil Almond grabbed an early brace for the hosts with a header from a Daniel Stubberfield cross and a fine individual effort that curled into the top
corner.
Andy Walsh and Dennis Hill both failed to convert headed chances before Mark Westhead hit number three.
Derby's effort then gave hope to the Blackpool outfit and further late goals from Colin Francis and Stuart Holloway (2) condemned Darwen to a crushing
defeat.
