COLNE produced a performance that rocked UniBond Premier Southport as they progressed in the Lancashire FA Marsden Trophy with a fine 4-2 away win.

Then Colne took a deserved lead on nine minutes when Bernard Morley smashed home from a free kick after the first effort rebounded off the Sandgrounders wall.

The NWCL Division Two high-flyers were on cloud nine on 20 minutes when James Webster released Lee Slater, whose cross was headed home by Carle Haworth.

The home side pulled one back on 28 minutes when Sam Hayes gave the ball away and McGuire scored with a low drive.

Ross Baxter madean excellent save to keep the visitors ahead and Southport went down to 10 men when Price was dismissed for a two footed lunge on Haworth.

Then on half-time, Colne restored their two goal lead when Scott Gizon made it 3-1.

More reward for their fine football came on 70 minutes when Webster, Gizon and Morley broke from defence to release Haworth, who made it four.

A late penalty converted by Peter Thomson made it 4-2 but the Reds held on to record a fine win.
