I WOULD like to respond to the letter published last week under the heading 'Close skate park'. I am one of the people who got it put there in the first place and think the comments are both selfish and unwelcome.
A lot of people put a great deal of effort into getting this facility. I, and the younger population of this city, think it is a credit to Lancaster that its council finally listened to and acted upon the wishes of its youth.
Skaters just want to skate, and Lancaster skate park is now well known across the North West skate scene. Kids actually come here now just to use the facility, and that is success in my eyes. It reflects the changing mood of a city where young and old alike love to live.
If I had to campaign again I would, or maybe you want us to use the town hall steps again or hang around the streets with nowhere to go. Back to the dark ages.
Stuart Lovatt, Lancaster
