BACUP produced a stunning display of quality football to progress to the second round of the Marsden Trophy last night.
Karl Stanley, Darren Emmett and Stuart Telfer all had early chances before Rhodri Giggs gave Bacup a 10th minute lead, Nicky Taylor giving him the chance to round the keeper and place the ball into the empty net.
Giggs created the second before half-time when he swung in a corner and Darren Emmett produced a bullet header into the net
On 55 minutes Bacup went 3-0 in front when Telfer did well in the corner before releasing the ball to Giggs, who cleverly flicked the ball past the keeper.
Giggs was unlucky not to have got his hat-trick when the keeper's legs came to the rescue, but Emmett got his second goal of the night when he quickly closed the defender down, won the ball and delivered a stunning shot.
Emmett then completed his hat-trick with 12 minutes left from a Taylor cross.
