THE Open Door furniture recycling project in Colne has scooped a top ten prize in a national competition.
The project, which recycles unwanted furniture and domestic appliances for people who cannot afford to furnish their homes, was awarded a highly commended mark in the British Urban Regeneration Association Awards.
Staff from the charity collected the award at a prestigious ceremony at the House of Lords in London this week.
Open Door manager, Mark Clegg, said: "It's nice to have all our hard work recognised. We rely on local people for donations and voluntary support and this award proves that a real difference can be made to the quality of people's lives in Pendle."
The project, based in Knotts Lane, has provided more than 10,000 items of furniture to 2,000 homes.
