YOUR correspondent Mr Smith complains (LET, December 8) that Darwen councillors have nothing to do all day but complain about the m-way service station sign.
He has a point. If that's all Darwen councillors did then Darwen electors should kick them out. The problem is he assumes that the only thing councillors do is what he reads in the press.
As he mentioned me in particular I will give readers a taste of what I do all day and leave it to them to decide.
This was my diary for the first four days of this week:
Monday
9.30-12.00 -- Following up constituents complaints with council officers.
12.00-14.00 -- Attended Blackburn with Darwen Old Peoples' Forum
16.30-17.30 -- Working group looking at using IT to improve councillors services
19.00-21.00 -- Liberal Democrat councillors' meeting
Tuesday
9.30-10.00 -- Met with Darwen businesspeople to discuss their concerns
10.30-1300 -- At Blackburn Town Hall in discussion with officers on Darwen issues
18.00-20.30 -- Scrutiny committee meeting
Wednesday
12.00-13.00 -- Met with council officers to discuss ward issues
14.00-16.00 -- At Blackburn Town Hall following up constituents' problems
17.00-18.00 -- Meeting with the Chief Executive
Thursday
9.30-10.30 -- Visited Sunnyhurst School
12.00-12.30 -- Meeting with assistant chief executive to discuss Darwen issues
14.00-15.30 -- Helping to arrange voluntary work for a Blackburn student.
I hope this proves that this Darwen councillor does not sit around all day doing nothing.
COUN KARIMEH FOSTER, Derby Close Darwen.
