PLANS to turn a former solicitors office in Earby into a takeaway are to be decided by Pendle Council.
The council has received four letters and a 27-signature petition from local residents objecting to proposals to change the use of the Victoria Road office.
Last month the West Craven Committee voted to refuse the application because of the noise, fumes and disturbance at night for the residents of neighbouring properties.
However, similar plans for the site were approved on appeal in 1993, but were never carried out and council officers, who had recommended that the current application be approved, were concerned about the significant cost for the council of another appeal. The shop has been empty since.
The application was referred - with a recommendation of refusal from the West Craven Committee and one of approval from planning officers - for a final decision to be made when it meets next Monday.
