TWO men from East Lancashire will swap the wet British weather for the scorching hot deserts of the Sahara in a 100km trek to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Michael Beckett, from Whalley, and Stewart Atkinson, from Burnley, are to take part in The Sahara Hiking Challenge, which runs from March 13 to 21.
They will walk for seven hours each day and camp in the desert every night.
Michael said: "The challenge is for an extremely good cause, which makes it all the more fulfilling."
In the UK, four in ten people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime and over a million people are currently living with cancer.
The money raised by Michael and Stewart will go towards specialist Macmillian nurses and doctors who specialise in cancer care and also building urgently needed cancer care centres.
