SCHOOLGIRL Rachel Farrar showed off her culinary talents in a Ready Steady Cook competition at Darwen Vale High.
The teenager was taking part in the local finals of the Darwen Rotary Club competition.
Representatives from Darwen Vale and Westholme schools worked under pressure to provide a meal for two for under £8 in an hour-and-a-quarter.
A group of four judges from Darwen Rotary Club had the difficult decision of deciding on a winner to go through to the regional finals next month.
Rachel was awarded first prize for her oriental noodle dish and a dessert from a recipe passed down through her family.
The judges described her performance as outstanding and professional.
