THE debut season for Leigh Church Inn FC, in this year's Wigan & District League has been an up and down affair.
Currently lying mid-table in a competitive Division Two, they have had some fantastic results in holding both the league favourites and second placed outfits to draws in recent weeks.
Some weeks have been a bit hit and miss, with the club having a shortage of players and subs due to work commitments, but all in all it has been a successful start to the season, playing against teams who have been in the league for many years.
The New Year sees the club compete in the Laithwaite Shield, with a trip to Robin Park up for grabs for the winners and the second half of the league. The Church have favourable home ties in the draw all the way to the final.... if they get there!
Having played away for the best part of the season, the team now face primarily home ties at the Marsh Playing fields on Saturday's and are looking to drive forward by recruting new players and assistants for this season and next.
Any players or those wishing to be part of the club, please contact Jamie on 07976 059560. The team trains at Lowton High School on Wednesday evenings with matches played on Saturday afternoons.
