COUNCIL bosses are to look at returning old bridleways in Darwen to their former glory.
The move came after Darwen MP Janet Anderson and representatives from the Bridleways Association campaigned for their re-opening.
Darwen currently has no bridleways because they were downgraded to footpaths in the past.
But with an increasing number of horse-riders wanting to make the most of the countryside around Darwen, a meeting was held between interested parties and council officers to find a way forward in making the moors more accessible.
The local members of the association were asked to produce a list of the possible bridleways to be opened which the council would consider.
Mrs Anderson said she hoped the campaign would receive the same amount of backing as the Pennine Bridleway through East Lancashire and would boost Darwen's tourism and economy.
She was awaiting an updated report from Blackburn with Darwen Council.
