AN organisation formed over 40 years ago to promote camaraderie between ex-shipmates is facing a struggle for survival.
Atherton and District White Ensign Association is appealing for new members from all branches of the services to sign up and help keep them afloat.
Secretary Joseph Cassidy said: "As the years take their toll and more members obey the last pipe, the association has turned to other members of the forces, regardless of which branch they served in.
"We are struggling to keep going so I appeal to any ex members of the forces or serving members, male or female, to come and join us."
The group, which supports local charities, meets every other Sunday at Howe Bridge Village Club at 12.30pm and the last get together of the year is on December 21.
