A SERIES of events are being lined up to mark Blackpool Tower's 110th anniversary next year.
Leisure Parcs, owner of the tower, Winter Gardens and piers, have also announced plans to bring popular West End musical, the Full Monty, to town.
The tower is to host the annual convention of the Confederation of World Towers during the 2004 illuminations and a new exhibition celebrating the tower's history will be opened at the start of next year's season.
Next year will also see the return of the popular evenings of entertainment at the tower, including the Kings of Swing, New Squadronnaires and the Glenn Miller Orchestra.
Another anniversary will be celebrated at North Pier, with an exhibition marking the 100th birthday of one of the most loved entertainers of the last century, George Formby.
The announcements were made to local hoteliers at a special event at the tower last week, thanking them for their support in the past year.
Around 450 accommodation providers attended and also saw a presentation of the new show, Pinnochio's Adventures in the Christmas Circus.
A prize of a week-long trip to Las Vegas for two for ticket sales was handed to Shaun and Jan Bridgman from the Glen House Hotel, while Blackpool Tourism was awarded .
Tower marketing manager, Tim Dixon, said: "I am delighted to see the Glen House Hotel awarded the Las Vegas trip for their efforts in ticket sales for such a popular family attraction and we thank Blackpool Tourism for their countless efforts in selling Blackpool Tower and Louis Tussaud's Waxworks tickets."
