A BAN on boozing on the streets of Padiham has finally been approved by Burnley Council.
From today anyone caught drinking on certain town centre streets could be arrested and fined up to £500.
The ban, under the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001, is the result of months of work by the police and a special working group, including members of Burnley Council. The ban comes into force after a period of public consultation, during which no objections were received to the proposals.
Streets covered in the Outdoor Alcohol Control Zone include Church Street, Burnley Road area, Pendle Street, Waddington Street and Moor Lane.
