I HAVE been following your story on the terrible demise of Frosty the Snowman in the Preston Old Road area of Blackburn.

I too am a resident of the area, but feel no sympathy for the Moss family. Many people have seen Frosty when he was alive, but unfortunately expressed the same inclinations as the two young lads prosecuted for the damage of the said snowman.

I, possibly like the Moss family, yearn for the days when Frosty could be in every garden. But the realistic view of today's crime culture would deter most from displaying this expensive purchase in such an accessible place.

I am furious at the Mosses' foolhardiness and the subsequent police and court's time wasted. There is much criminal damage to less boisterous purchases and property in this area, such as the recent damage suffered by Redlam surgery and Marsh Ward & Co on West View, Redlam.

I sincerely hope that the Moss family will learn from this incident, and not continue to live in their own 'winter wonderland.' Frosty was lovely, but a replacement will surely end with the same misery.

VIVIAN MORAN, Redlam, Blackburn.
