PRESTON number two Billy Davies admitted North End may struggle to hang on to Ricardo Fuller when Premiership clubs come calling.

The Jamaican enhanced his growing reputation with a hat-trick to sink Burnley at Deepdale.

And first team coach Davies fears January's transfer window may lead to a scramble for Fuller's signature.

He said: "You have to say Ricardo is a fantastic player and it can be very difficult when you have someone like him playing in that manner.

"There's no doubt about it - I would be very surprised if there wasn't a lot of interest because he's a top player who causes a lot of problems and excites the fans every time he plays.

"We believe we have one or two players here who could go on and become big stars in the game, but Ricardo has started putting the ball in the back of the net and that's obviously something that is going to create interest."

Reflecting on the 5-3 win, Davies added: "We are delighted. It was disappointing to lose three goals at home and that always made things difficult.

"We let them back into the game too many times and it must have been a fantastic game for the fans. But (keeper) Jonathan Gould has made two wonderful saves at very important times and Ricardo Fuller had one of those days."
