PRESTWICH HEYS...1 DUKINFIELD TOWN...0: HEYS extended their unbeaten run to 12 games, and with Royton Town losing at Wythenshawe the Prestwich club found itself joint leaders of the division.

Heys deserved the victory but the winning goal did not arrive until the last minute, although when it came it was worth the wait.

Dukinfield are an enigmatic side, capable of playing good football but frustrating to play against, with their no-nonsense defensive approach.

Heys played into a strong first-half wind and excellent defence allowed Dukinfield few attacking opportunities, with the home side gradually beginning to dominate midfield.

This superiority ought to have produced goals, but a combination of wayward finishing and good goalkeeping conspired to produce a half-time stalemate.

Heys were forced into a change at the break.

Damien Rooney having aggravated a hand injury was replaced by Danny Roberts, a Manchester University student and a product of Morecambe's academy.

With the wind at their backs Heys emerged for the second half confident of getting a result, but Fisher in the Town goal was to thwart them as the visitors dug in to defend in depth.

With chances arriving and departing without being converted Heys brought on subs Uddin and Denham but still Town's defence hung on.

With 90 minutes almost up, Heys mounted one last attack. Dydyna went down the right and delivered a perfect defence splitting pass to Brandon jolly, whose shot across goal found it's way into the corner of the net to ensure victory with a well taken goal.

PRESTWICH: Rooney, Dydyna, Stokes, Walters, Cunningham, Woodcock, Lyons, Garrick, J.Kavanagh, Jolly and Watson. Subs: Roberts, Uddin and Denham.
