CARING pupils from Derby High School have been busy collecting goods to make Christmas hampers for the elderly.
Youngsters from Year 10 brought packets and tins from home, packaged the hampers, and then decorated the boxes for people using the Grundy Day Centre in Wellington Road, Bury.
Alyson Byrne, headteacher of the Radcliffe Road school, said: "The children do this every year and take great pleasure in it."
Staff from the centre visited the Derby High to collect the hampers and presented them to their elderly visitors around the Christmas tree.
Trish Fern, manager at the centre, said: "They were thrilled. It was like Christmas had come a little bit early for them."
