A SINGLE mum today appealed to the burglars who stole her three-year-old son's Christmas presents to find it in their hearts to return them.

Clare King, 24, said she could not afford to replace the gifts following the burglary at her home in Parklands Way, Livesey, Blackburn.

The burglars stole wrapped presents from under the Christmas tree -- toys for her son, Jordan, clothes for her sister, Catherine and a watch for her mum, Karen.

They also took other household items, including a PlayStation, DVDs and jewellery with sentimental value.

Clare, who works part time at the Boozebuster off-licence in Mill Hill, said: "My pay day before Christmas will cover debts and food. It has just ruined Christmas. I will try my best to celebrate, but I don't know how.

"I was supposed to be going to my mum and dads but I am frightened of leaving the house. I cannot believe someone would do something like that. It is out of order.

"It was very upsetting and has left me with a sour feeling. It doesn't feel like Christmas any more."

The incident has left Clare with a heartbreaking dilemma -- Jordan thinks Father Christmas has taken his presents away ready for delivery.

She said: "I don't know what to tell him. It is so hard. He is going to be very disappointed on Christmas Day. I think the people who have done this are absolutely disgusting.

"I am a single mother and have worked to try and give my son a good Christmas. Last year I didn't have a job, but this year I have tried to save and make it special.

"It is heartbreaking. I would like the burglars to find it in their hearts to just return the things for the sake of my child."

The burglars climbed through the dining room window to steal the presents on Wednesday between 4pm and 6.40pm.

Blackburn police's burglary team confirmed it was investigating.
