SO Coun O'Kane thinks the investment in Accrington Stanley is a waste of money. Anybody with any sense knows that £15,000 a year would not even put one street cleaner on the streets of Hyndburn. Street cleaners don't get this amount in their pay packets, it is what it costs to employ them.
With all the publicity that has been generated, especially with the FA Cup run, advertisers would be falling over themselves to have got a deal like this. But people with their heads in the sand, like Coun O'Kane, cannot see further than the end of their nose.
The money from this cup run will go to improving the ground so that not only will it benefit the spectators (most of them Hyndburn rate payers) but also the youngsters of the borough who will be able to use the facilities.
Stanley will go from strength to strength, thanks to a strong management team.
Coun O'Kane should look nearer home for savings.
BERNARD BRIGGS, Lion Street, Church, Accrington.
