A CAR drove past homes in a Nelson street at more than 70mph while speeds were being monitored, according to a council report.
A data collection device was placed in Southfield Lane after residents complained to Pendle Council about speeding cars.
The mean speed of the 1,060 vehicles to use the road over a 12-day period in May was 30.8mph, but one driver was recording passing the device at 64mph.
Signing and lighting measures were installed to highlight the homes but when more data was collected between November 28 and December 5, a car passed through at 78mph.
The average speed had been reduced to 29mph following the introduction of the anti-speeding measures.
The report will go before councillors at a meeting of the Nelson Committee in Nelson Town Hall at 7pm on January 5.
