I AGREE with Cllr Sear's observation on tree felling on Willow Lane (Letters, December 11).
Planning consent, and any other conditions imposed, need to be adhered to or the whole process is pointless.
However, the latter part of his letter suggests that the majority of councillors do not care about trees, and indeed, we are assured that only the 'Greens' will protect us and the trees.
The environment is not the sole domain of the Green Party, and over the period of my involvement with the city council, many councillors have raised issues and protected trees threatened with the chop.
I have worked under the rather grand title of 'tree warden' for Halton-with-Aughton for many years (long before any of the Greens cycled into town) and have, wherever possible, done my utmost to protect all trees in danger.
All my waste paper is collected by Halton Scout Group, all my glass goes to the bottle bank and all my old clothes go to charity shops or the bank at Salt Ayre. Don't worry Jonathan, you are not alone or elite.
Cllr Paul Woodruff, Halton-with-Aughton
