HEYSHAM Atoms ended their 2003 programme in rugby league's North West Counties League Two on a low - beaten 13-8 at home by Latchford Albion.
The Warrington side scored early thanks to the dominance of their bigger pack, and it was an advantage they never gave up despite spirited Atoms' resistance.
Liam Hall and man of the Match Brian Cambidge led the battle for dominance among the forwards but the visitors exerted their dominance with simple rugby and a skilful kicking game well-suited to wet and windy conditions.
Walker clawed back two valuable points with an impressive 40-yard penalty and Keith Hartlebury set up Lewis Mills for a try which Walker converted - but those were Atroms only breaks in a frustrating afternoon.
Rory Batson had a mistake free game in the centres and Mark Allen tried to inspire the forwards with strong running, but it was Latchford who extended their lead with a further try before finishing off their scoring with a well-taken drop goal.
