PARENTS and children in Burnley have been making books come to life as part of a scheme to improve literacy.
Daneshouse and Stoneyholme Sure Start has been holding sessions in Stoneyholme aimed at encouraging parents to read to their young children and to address basic literacy and the English language.
Parents and children have been making props and toys and playing games to make the books come to life at the Story Sacks sessions.
The sessions finish on Tuesday, December 30, with a party at the Baptist Church, in Colne Road, from 12pm to 2pm.
At the party the children and parents will be presented with certificates and gifts for attending the project.
Any parents interested in joining the next session are invited to the party to find out more.
