ROBBIE Blake and the cavalier Clarets have vowed to carry on entertaining this Christmas!
Having conceded 43 goals in their 24 league games, you might expect manager Stan Ternent to batten down the hatches for the festive season.
But Burnley are having none of it and fans gearing up for two games in three days, starting with the Boxing Day trip to Crewe, can still expect the emphasis to be on carrying games to the opposition.
Blake explained: "Maybe we are a bit too cavalier at times, but that's the way the gaffer wants us to play.
"Earlier this week he again said he doesn't want to stop doing that, so that's the way we're going to play.
"I think people have been on the radio stations saying 'come down to Turf Moor, there's some great games' and we certainly are an attacking side.
"But hopefully we can keep the goals against down and keep winning."
Blake himself is in tip-top shape with six goals in his last six games edging him nearer to his seasonal target of 20.
And the £1m striker, who now has 13 for the season, accepts he is currently in the best form of his career.
Blake, 27, revealed: "Yes, at this time, I'm probably playing my best football. When you are playing every game, you feel fit, strong and you are scoring goals, confidence is there.
"I'm enjoying my football at the moment and long may it continue."
Blake, who goes gunning for a magnificent seven in seven at Crewe, added: "I think I got eight in eight (games) at Bradford, but six in six is certainly up there with my best runs, so if I can beat that, it will be great.
"I think it's the first time I've got double figures before Christmas and hopefully now, I'll get to 20 before the end of the season.
"Obviously before the season you would like to get around 15, but now I'm looking at 20, so hopefully that's not the kiss of death!"
Blake also feels the Clarets have the capability to get back to winning ways at Crewe. The hard-fought 1-0 win at Turf Moor back in August, when Richard Chaplow opened his goalscoring account, gave fans the first home win of what has been a topsy-turvy campaign.
And following the disappointment of last weekend's 5-3 defeat at Preston, the former Bradford striker has his sights set on ending 2002 with a road trip to remember.
Blake said: "It should be an interesting game. Crewe pass the ball and are a good side who are doing well after coming up from the Second Division.
"It's going to be a tricky game for us. But the way we've been playing, we're capable of winning these games.
"It's a blow ending the year in the bottom half of the table, but if you look at the league, we are only 10 points from the play-offs, so if we pick six points up from the next two games, that pushes us back up the league."
