KERBSIDE recycling has saved over nine thousand trees since September.
Now Wigan Council will extend its paper recycling operation borough-wide after a successful pilot scheme.
Cllr Lynne Liptrot thanked those who had taken part in the trial scheme and said soon people will be getting full details and a bag, ready for fortnightly collections of paper on their regular bin day.
Statistics show recycling a metre high stack of newspaper saves one tree from being cut down to make paper.
