A UNION is urging people to take part in a major new survey into what matters most to those living, and working, in Burnley and Padiham.
The survey, to be carried out by telephone in the New Year by a North West polling company, is being conducted by engineering and professional union Amicus.
Amicus is asking local people not to mistake the telephone calls for double glazing salesmen and take a full part in the survey which it said, will benefit the area.
Debbie Brannan, Amicus regional officer, said: " People often get fed up with salesmen phoning them up at this time of year, but this survey is a real chance to build a better Burnley."
Amicus represents thousands of local workers and Derek Simpson, Amicus General Secretary, has prioritised the Burnley area as a core part of the union's campaign against racism. The union gave the first ever 'Tackling Racism in the Workplace' award to a local firm, Baxi, last week.
Debbie said: "We will be asking people what they want for the area, particularly with regard to education, health and community services. It's crucial that everyone who is phoned takes this opportunity to help shape the future."
