A DOG warden has appealed to Lancashire Evening Telegraph readers to help reunite a farm dog with its owners before it has to be put down.
The black and white border collie was found wandering on the moors near Belthorn last Friday .
Steve Wood, Hyndburn Council's dog warden, has contacted farms and other dog wardens in the area to see if someone has come forward to claim her.
But he said that unless her owner is found she will have to be put down.
"She just looks like a farm dog to me," said Mr Wood.
"Nobody has been for her. I have washed and brushed her and been round to farms around Edgworth and Belthorn.
"It seems strange no-one has come forward. She does all the commands you would expect from a working dog. I'm sure someone must be missing her.
"She is a well looked after dog. There must be a reason why the owner has not come forward."
Aged between five and 10, Mr Wood said the dog was good around people and other dogs.
"She's very endearing. I want to try to get her back to her owner.
"It's a tight time for us as a charity and it's not as if we can pay for kennel space somewhere else because they are all busy."
Anyone who can provide a home for the animal or who may know if someone is missing her should call Steve Wood on 07970 681225.
