CAN you chat, listen and enjoy meeting new friends?
If so, Jigsaw Link is seeking volunteers to provide friendship and support to those who are socially isolated and lonely due to their disabilities.
Jigsaw Link is a voluntary befriending scheme providing friendship to older people throughout the borough who have a physical disability or a sight or hearing impairment. It is one of the projects of registered charity BADDAC (Bury and District Disabled Advisory Council).
The aim of Jigsaw Link is to link up volunteers on a one-to-one basis with those who would benefit from such a service.
Recipients will benefit from making new friends and joining in social events and improving their quality of life. Volunteers will also benefit from forming new friendships with both service users and fellow volunteers.
Experience in the field of disability is not required. What is required is a friendly personality and the willingness to offer support for those in need. Out of pocket expenses for travel and social events will be provided.
If anyone has an hour or so to spare each week, they are asked to contact Eileen Neal on 253 6997.
