MARLENE Talbot is quite right (December 20) regarding special Christmas issue postage stamps being void of appropriate motifs and images to represent the purpose of the occasion.
A couple of years ago I filled in a customer complaint form criticising this point.
Snowmen and robins only represent winter and definitely not the Christian festival of Christmas.
Evidently, not enough folk speak out - not to mention the church hierarchy, especially those busy banging on about being politically correct.
The Royal Mail says that finding new designs for Christmas stamps was a challenge and they were always looking for new and attractive stamps depicting both secular and non-secular Christmas stamp issues, with images such as ice sculptures.
Obviously the Royal Mail are not looking in the right direction. Typical mechanical bureaucracy.
By the way don't forget to donate your used postage stamps to a charity.
