DRIVERS who use blue lights to decorate their cars are being targeted by Pendle MP Gordon Prentice.

The backbencher has called on the Transport Secretary to ban the lights on private cars, after complaints from a constituent.

Mr Prentice said: "A constituent recently had a near-accident with a car sporting these blue lights, which are of the kind normally seen on police cars.

"The blue lights in this case were attached to the front and rear of the car, although I have seen them underneath, making the cars look quite ethereal, floating on a platform of light.

"The use of these blue lights is surely potentially hazardous."
