AN inquest into the death of a taxi driver who died in a crash has been opened and adjourned.
Munawar Hussain, 44, of Barden Lane, Burnley, lost control of his Hackney Carriage on ice outside the Glory pub in Burnley Road, Loveclough, about 1.30am on Sunday.
The accident happened just after he had dropped off a group of passengers from Burnley near the junction of Burnley Road and Commercial Street.
His brother Khadim collapsed at home in New Hall Street and died of a suspected heart attack after hearing of Munawar's fatal crash.
Munawar, who was chairman of the town's Hackney Carriage Association, was the father of five daughters and a young son who was just a few months old.
Khadim, too, was married with children.
An inquest into Munawar's death was opened yesterday and adjourned for toxicology tests.
Police want the passengers who were dropped off to speak to them as witnesses. Anyone with information should call 01282 472431.
