BURNLEY keeper Brian Jensen has just one New Year wish - more clean sheets!

The Dane has suffered a severe recent case of what boss Stan Ternent calls "net rash", with the only shut-out in his last 19 games coming in November's 3-0 home win over Reading

And Jensen is desperate to make up for lost time in the coming months to bring the feel-good factor back to Turf Moor.

Jensen said: "What I remember most about the season is the clean sheets. The last one came such a long time ago and there certainly haven't been enough of them.

"I've only had four in the league and it's not enough so I can't say it enough - clean sheets are all I want!"

Jensen's only other blank came in the Carling Cup victory over Chesterfield way back in August.

And he is hoping for more of that cup luck this weekend when Burnley hit the FA Cup trial with a third round tie at Mansfield.

Ominously, only Second Division leaders Plymouth have scored more league goals than the Stags, who have rattled in 50 goals in 24 games.

And Jensen believes Keith Curle's Third Division high-flyers will provide stern opposition for the Clarets.

He insisted: "Mansfield is a really tough game for us. I have followed them a little this season and they have had a good run and everyone knows that when a bigger team goes to a lower league ground it's always awkward.

"We saw that at Chesterfield. Even though they were near the bottom of the league, it was still tough and we struggled before eventually winning on penalties.

"The only thing I do know is that if we get a chance at Mansfield we have to score because we won't get that many.

"Defeat just doesn't bear thinking about and we want to win it at the first time of asking."

The FA Cup provides a welcome distraction for ther Clarets following their miserable run of four straight league defeats.

But Jensen believes this weekend could act as a springboard to better things if the result goes Burnley's way.

The First Division fixture list does not get any easier in January, with Crystal Palace next up in south London before promotion-chasing West Brom visit Turf Moor.

Jensen said: "We only take one game at a time, but the cup game is really important for confidence because we are over half way through the season and we need some points.

"We have to get as many as possible, as early as possible, so the next two games are really important for Burnley Football Club, that's for sure."
