F Graeme Souness does get the cheque book out during the January sales then he wouldn't go far wrong in signing Muzzy Izzet.
In my opinion, Izzet would be a fine addition to the Rovers squad and a suitable replacement for the injured Barry Ferguson.
The Leicester City midfielder has a proven record in the Premiership and has been one of the Foxes most consistent performers.
The fact that his name is constantly linked with other clubs shows that he is a player in demand and he would settle in well at Ewood Park.
He is the sort of player Graeme Souness likes and remember, Izzet knows Tugay from playing in the Turkish national side.
As for Ferguson, I am gutted for the lad. I've said in the past that it takes time to adjust to the pace of the Premiership and that was just the case with Ferguson.
But anyone who has watched Rovers in the past month or so will tell you that he has been one of our best players. He was just getting in to his stride and this happens.
It seems like the injury could keep him out for up to a year and that is just a nightmare for him.
I feel sorry for Graeme as well because Ferguson's injury as forced his hand when it comes to bringing in fresh blood. For had Ferguson not been injured I am sure he would have been looking to strengthen the striking department.
Our strikers have struggled this season and with Rovers conceding goals they must go in to every game thinking they have to score at least twice to win games. That has put them under added pressure.
As for who we would sign is a different matter.
For there is a shortage of Premiership class strikers about in this country and, as Graeme has already said, bringing in a player from abroad carries that risk element. But that is something he may have to do.
