LEADING students from Kingfisher's Learndirect Centre have picked up awards celebrating their skills, determination and courage.
"We see a lot of mature students who have had little or no experience of IT before they come here and it is a real challenge getting over that hurdle," said centre manager Christine Hawke.
"When we decided to have an awards night we wanted to honour the people who had shown lots of personal courage and determination to succeed."
Among the successes were European Computer Driving Licence Fast Track, Norrie Durber; Job Enhancement, Sandra Dempsey; Most Determined, David Horsfall and Jackie Locke; Progression (Computers Don't Bite to European Computer Driving Licence), Rona Hirst; Personal Circumstances, Tony Paulaskas.
Added Christine: "We believe there are plenty more potential award winners out there who could follow the example set by this group. We have a number of courses starting in the new year, with some special two for one offers, so it is a great time to find out more about learndirect."
