A MOBILE library, helped by members of the WRVS, is on the road.

The service is being run in Barnoldswick by librarian Linda Medley and is already proving very popular with residents.

To join the scheme, which is particularly aimed at people who have problems getting out to their local library, new members are asked to fill in a form with their name and address.

Linda then visits the individual to talk to them about their likes and dislikes so that she can advise on the best choice of books.

The service also lends out CDs, videos and jigsaws to members.

Linda said: "The response so far has been really good, largely because people had never had such a service before.

"I am sure there must be lots of other people out there who would like to join the scheme and we would welcome more customers."
