THE mystery of a blood-stained jacket found at the Tickled Trout Hotel in Samlesbury has been solved.
The coat, found among some bins at the back of the Preston New Road hotel on Monday, was covered in a 'significant' amount of blood across the shoulders.
The find sparked a manhunt with 15 police officers, dog teams and the force helicopter scouring the area.
But police say two friends from Blackpool came forward to admit they had been in a fight.
During the scuffle, one man suffered a serious nosebleed, covering his jacket with blood.
The men stopped at the Tickled Trout to ask for a towel to stem the flow of blood, and threw away the jacket.
No complaints were made by either of the men, and the police have finished their investigations.
Detective Inspector Chris Wilde said: "As far as we are concerned that is the end of it."
