A PLAN to develop out-of-hours school clubs is to be discussed by councillors.
The policy and review committee of Blackburn with Darwen Council will look at how a strategy to extend the use of schools is being taken forward.
A report written for the committee states how the education and lifelong learning committee have been working to develop Government plans to benefit of pupils, their families and schools. The education committee in December discussed how the extended schools programme - including breakfast clubs, out-of-hours learning, and family and community learning sessions - is to run.
Visits by the education committee will be made this month to Wensley Fold Primary, in Manor Road; Beardwood High School; St Aidan's Primary, in Norfolk Street, and St Mary and St Joseph's Primary, in Bennington Street.
The policy and review committee, which meets on Thursday at Blackburn Town Hall, is set to note the report made by Maureen McGarvy, chairman of the education and lifelong learning committee.
