Woking 2 Leigh RMI 0 by David Magilton: LEIGH boss Phil Starbuck admits he is at a loss to explain his side's inconsistency.
RMI have produced a series of Jekyll and Hyde peformances all season and this was no exception.
This was their fourth successive defeat and they need to start picking up fast if they are to climb out of the drop zone.
Woking went ahead after 16 minutes when Scott Canham's outswinging corner found Neil Sharp, who thumped in a header from six yards.
Six minutes later, Woking went two up when a huge punt upfield from Gary McDonald found Amos Foyewa, who scored with a fierce drive from the edge of the area.
Leigh responded positively after the break and carved out a handful of half-chances, but failed to find the net.
Starbuck said: "It was a game of two halves; in the first we were woeful, in the second we were a lot better, but we were down 2-0 at half-time and the damage was done.
"Our defending was inept; the goals they scored were woeful. Some of the players were still on the bus for the first 20 minutes.
Starbuck added: "The preparation was superb. Money is tight, but the lads stopped at a hotel and were given a pre-match meal. If some of the lads showed the same endeavour as the chairman and the board we would be all right."
