HAD the planning application for the sex-shop superstore in Preston New Road, Blackburn, been more widely publicised, there would probably have been many more objections.
The window displays may be inoffensive and it may be harmless for right-minded adults, but the fact is that some people who are not in their right minds are liable to be drawn to a shop which advertises a 'dungeon' as a source of 'pleasure.'
To encourage individuals to indulge in such fantasies and the next minute set foot among women and children near or in a large park is grossly irresponsible.
Teenagers should be able to walk home from school or play in the park without feeling uneasy or being in danger of a fright or even a physical attack.
We have all read of people being killed for being in the "wrong place at the wrong time" and there are still unsolved murders which were carried out in town and city parks. I am surprised the police did not object given that probation offices, schools and nurseries are nearby.
