REGARDING an article in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph last Friday, which reported that people in Darwen get less spent on them than people in Blackburn. This has been going on since Darwen went in with Blackburn in 1973.
It proves that Darwen does not get its fair share of the money and never has since it went in with Blackburn.
I do hope that the people of Darwen will remember all this when the council elections are held this year. Darwen should go it alone, have its own council etc. We were always in the black when Darwen had it's own council before 1973.
Maybe the new health centre might have been sited on the flat and not up a hill and the old health centre and old social services land would be sold off, not given in the deal to the contractors who are to build the new health centre behind the leisure centre.
All we want is a fair share of investments and services and more money to be spent throughout Darwen. This council must make up for all the underspending in Darwen or they will find themselves out at the council elections this year.
