A VERDICT of accidental death was recorded at an inquest into the death of an Accrington man found lying in the street with head injuries.
Allan Clynch died last month, two days after being found in Whalley Road, Accrington.
The 56-year-old, of Portland Street, Accrington, had been seen earlier riding a horse on the A679 and through the town centre.
The horse was later found wandering around Abbey Street, Accrington.
Mr Clynch was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
He was transferred to Preston Royal Hospital and later the Walton Centre for Neurology in Liverpool, where he died.
DS Paul Murphy, of Accrington CID, said: "This incident initially gave police cause for concern. The matter was thoroughly investigated and it was established that this was a tragic accident.
"The police would like to thank the members of the public who co-operated with the investigation."
Coroner Andre Rebello recorded a verdict of accidental death.
