A BLACKBURN school is one of a handful nationwide to be given a pat on the back for the ninth-year running by a leading skills agency.
Teachers were celebrating at St Wilfrid's CE High School and Technology College after being awarded the Basic Skills Agency Quality Mark.
Only 17 other schools have been awarded the three-year Quality Mark for the third time running in England and Wales.
Basic Skills inspectors visited the school in November to gauge the level of teaching across the curriculum - and concluded they were top of the class.
Harold Gillibrand, communications director, said: "It is a credit to all the staff and the learning support department in particular that we have reached a high standard again.
"It confirms the consistency of teaching at St Wilfrid's.
"The quality mark is issued by the agency in London to recognise the excellence of a school in delivering comprehensive programmes across the curriculum to enhance basic literacy and numeracy skills for all students."
