REGARDING Mr Thomas Bromley's comments on animal experiments (LET, January 1). He seems to assume people concerned for animal welfare are activists. Scientific evidence proves animal research can mislead and direct resources away from promising areas of research. Alternatives include all tissue cultures.
Computer imaging can integrate many equations to reflect the way the heart beats. Drugs can be injected into the model enabling drug companies to determine accurate doses safely.
Where there is no alterative human life will always supersede that of animals.
Citizens who show concern for animals will always be accused of lacking compassion for their fellow man, which is far from the truth.
