ROSSENDALE RUFC's first team reversed a trend to leap-frog Carlisle in to second place after a hard fought 19-13 victory in Cumbria.
Dale scored three late penalties to secure victory.
John Spencer did the damage with 14 points, kicking four penalties -- including three in the final 15 minutes -- and converting a Gareth Cosens try to clinch victory.
The home side had taken the lead with a counter attack try before Dale moved back in front through Cosens' touch down
Rossendale entertain bottom-of-the-table Windermere on Saturday.
Dale's second team enjoyed a memorable 11-7 victory against a strong Warrington side in Division Two of the Fairclough Homes North West Intermediate League.
