A TEENAGE mum whose house was targeted by arsonists says she is planning to move because of the attack.

Police are still investigating but believe the attack was intended for a person who does not even live at the address.

Amy Martin was at home with her two-year-old daughter Ellie at 5am on Saturday when she was woken by banging on the front door.

After hearing the knocks, the 18-year-old went to the window and saw a youth who shouted that he wanted to see another lad.

She told him she didn't know what he was talking about and he walked away with a girl.

She then went downstairs and discovered lighter fuel had been put through the door of the house in Augusta Street, Accrington, and set on fire with a piece of lit paper.

The teenager was so concerned about her daughter's safety she sent her to stay with relatives but the youngster is now back at home with her mum.

"Ellie is back home but I'm not sleeping at the moment. I'm scared. Ellie is not really affected because she didn't see anything so she's been all right.

"I have not had any sleep for a good few days - I'm definitely moving. I don't know where to yet but I'm hoping to move in the next couple of weeks, if possible.

"It's not too bad during the day because I can go out to try to do something to keep my mind off it. But at night it's worse.

"I keep checking my door to make sure it's locked. I was still up at 7.30am yesterday. I managed to catch half-an-hour before my daughter woke up.

"What a great start to the new year."

She also revealed her parents, Susan and Darren Hughes, who live next door to her, are also planning to move.

"They want to get out of the street as well and they have bought their house, mine is rented."

Detective Sergeant Paul Broxson, of Accrington CID, said the police were awaiting the results of forensic material recovered from the scene. Officers were hoping to issue an e-fit of the offender tomorrow.
